Detention Facility Administrator
Benton County Detention Facility is looking for an experienced Detention Administrator for our state-of-the-art facility. Located in Warsaw, Missouri, where fishing, hunting, boating and relaxation is the community's way of life.
The Detention Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, operations and programs in the Detention Facility. This position directs subordinates, ensuring that all policies, rules, regulations, orders, procedures and directives are enforced and implemented. You will make independent decisions or recommendations in hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline or discharge of Sheriff's Office Detention employees in accordance with the Employee handbook, Policy and Procedures and the Missouri Statutes. The Detention Administrator is directly accountable to the Sheriff and Undersheriff for the implementation of all the Sheriff's orders and direction concerning the operation of the Benton County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility.
Other duties include but are not limited to: Prepare, present and manage annual $2,000,000+ budget. Research and initiate grant requests for additional funding. Direct supervision of 5 sergeants and a staff of 30+. Oversee maintenance of the detention facility. Develop and implement, with Sheriff's approval, policy and procedure for facility operations.
Applicants should have a minimum of Six (6) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in corrections, criminal justice administration or related field or a combination of supervisory/administration experience. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Sciences, Public Administration or related field is preferred. Prior experience in correctional management/supervision can be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.
Must submit to, and pass an extensive background check, drug screen and physical.
Starting pay $47,000-$51,000 annually, based on experience.
Must be able to work any shift, including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts. Must be able to be recalled for duty at times outside of regular scheduled shifts.

Road Deputy - position open

Detention Officer- positions open
Benton County Detention Facility is hiring several new Detention Officers. Twelve-hour shifts with rotating three-day weekends off. Night and day shift positions available. Experienced candidates are preferred but we will train the right people.
A Detention Officer is responsible for enforcing the rules and maintaining routines at a correctional facility. Their duties include inspecting jail cells according to security protocols and safety codes, supervising detainees during meals and recreational time and diffusing conflicts between detainees to help preserve peace and order.
Other duties may include but are not limited to: Regular head counts of detainees within a section. Monitor detainee behavior and report unusual activity to ensure safety and security. Escort detainees to medical facilities, classrooms or wherever they are needed in a timely, secure manner.
Assist other Detention Officers with management of detainees. Conduct regular searches of detainee areas such as cells, recreation rooms and showers for unauthorized items. Manage confrontational situations as they arise to maintain security. Be able to write legible accurate reports.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Starting pay $19.00-$20.80 per hour depending on experience.
